Everyone needs a good hobby! Here are 10 great ideas to get you started!
)Reading- My personal favorite. Do you have a favorite author? A favorite series or genre? Go to your local library, get a library card and start reading! Using the library is great! It allows you to have thousands of books available to you for free! Many communities also have book clubs that always need new members. Joining a book club will now only give you exposure to new books but will let you discuss these books with others, enhancing your reading experience.
)Crafts- Go to a craft store and go crazy! Knitting, sewing, latch-hooking, crocheting, painting, beading, drawing and sculpting are all great (and fun!) ways to show off your creative side. Besides allowing you to let your creativity shine, homemade crafts make great personal gifts for those special people in your life!
)Volunteering- Charities are always looking for help! Find a local charity of your choice through the Internet, newspaper or phone book and call them to inquire. You can help the needy, disabled and/or injured, help the environment or work with children. Volunteer work is a great way to meet new people and helps you to make the world a better place for everyone to live.
)Music- Have you ever wanted to learn how to play an instrument? What better time than the present to start? Finding an instrument can be easy if done correctly. Keyboards are sold for low prices at many music shops and even department stores. Music shops sell all types of instruments, including used. Used instruments can be found for extremely low prices. Always check www.ebay.com and the classifieds section of your local newspaper-people are always looking to sell instruments! Music shops (those usually targeted toward students but available to anyone) rent instruments for relatively low monthly costs. Once you have acquired the instrument of your choice, find a book (at a bookstore, music store or online) that can teach you to read music (if you do not already know how) and how to play your selected instrument. Once you start learning, you can make beautiful music. This can be frustrating, but don't quit-it's well worth it!
)Photography- Almost everyone has a camera. Is yours in an old dusty box? If so, get it out and start shooting! Photography allows you to capture things you could otherwise miss. Cameras nowadays are usually digital, but they certainly do not have to be. Parks are a great place to take pictures. All year round, parks make
