Poetry: Life's paths

by R. Ross

A crying newborn enters life,
red,
cold,
distraught.
A mother's hand,
a mother's heart beat,
is no longer present.
The child knows the mother's spirit,
from nine months of being near it,
yet it cannot feel her anymore,
where has she gone,
god don't make me live this life alone!
Crying,
upset,
feeling lost,
being helped by nurses,
then off to social services,
this child was unwanted.
Growing up alone,
feeling scattered and torn,
this child finds spirit within god,
and realizes that the path she is on,
is where she's meant to be,
and that all along,
there's been a spirit within,
that helped her through,
the times that felt impossible to tread through.
She realizes that life's blueprint is laid out,
far before our journey to the womb,
and we helped to plan it,
through and through.
So don't feel lonely,
don't feel blue,
for you ARE on the path that was meant for you.
