The problem with America's energy policy

The problem with America's energy policy, is that there is none!

There are many people in the debate that try and throw in unworkable technologies, thinking that they are helping, while all they do is hinder.

Here is the list of unworkable technologies;

Solar (to electricity) - a good dream but there still needs to be a breakthrough to make it affordable and usable. It is a good helper technology but a home still needs a connection to the power grid for those times when the sun is not seen for days, and to run large motors. As it is now for any reliability, the system needs large batteries, which will add to landfills and other pollution.

Solar (water heating) - Again a wonderful dream, but it only works in some climates. Folks in the southern US have found that it is a good helper technology, and can reduce some load on the primary technology, but it is not good enough for solo operations.

Bio-fuels - There may be some promise down the road when it is better perfected.

Ethanol - You must be joking. This is just the farm states way of subsidizing farmers. Besides the fact that the energy input (mostly oil) required to produce is is about equal to the energy it produces, Ethanol cannot be transported by the existing pipe system and must be carried by tanker truck. This puts more of us in danger from spills and accidents.

So, don't hinder the progress of energy development. Look at the real world.

Use energy wisely, but don't fall into the trap of "Carbon Credits" and other such nonsense which are just ways to allow other countries to pollute all that they want.
