Here is something that I don't get and I mean I really do not comprehend the logic behind this all too common scenario. I have tried applying for waitressing jobs since I became legally entitiled to work in this great Country of ours. Everytime I go they tell me I need experience. Now when I was about 17 I did french waitressing. Which is very difficult. You must carry large platters with ten or fifteen plates on top of them. You must set the tables in the french fashion prior to the event. You must know which coarses come before the other. In short it's not easy and ontop of everthing else you don't get any tips. Even after doing this type of work, I can still not get a waitressing job at even a cheesy dinner or cafe. I have also worked for Starbucks where you have to prepare the beverages in such a speedy manner after getting up at three in the morning to start your shift. Yet when I walk into Kelsy's they will not even look at my resume. This baffels me. They make it seem like the job is brain surgery or learnign to fly a jet. It's taking people orders for food and bringing it out to them. For the love of all that is pure in this world, it's just like any other service job. You just have to know how to smile, be friendly and have two working hands and possibley a decent body helps with getting the higher tips. So that is my beef. That is my pet peeve of the century. Can we stop treating this job like it's a career and hire a cute little finnish girl for a change? If we could it would be much apreciated and I promise I won't spit in your food.
