Skillet was born in Memphis Tennessee in the 1990's and the band made their first recording with the three original members, John Cooper who is the vocalist and bassist, Trey McClurkin on drums and Ken Steorts on guitar. They also went on to do their second recording, 'Hey You, I Love Your Soul' and their third 'Invincible', together.

In the beginning they were an alternative, progressive rock band and now, after some of the line up has changed as far as band members go, their music has more of a heavy metal influence.

Skillet make music with classic rock rifts using power chords to deeply resonate and connect with their listeners.

Nowadays, the band members consist of the original vocalist and bassist John Cooper, his wife Korey Cooper who plays the keyboard, Lori Peters on drums and Ben Kasica on guitar.

They have been on tour together many times and in 2001 John Cooper produced their album 'Alien Youth'.

Their real break through came in 2004 when they signed with the famous 'Atlantic Records' and released their album 'Collide' which shot them to further heights in the world of rock and roll.

Skillets songs often reflect the personal life and struggles that they have been through. They also try to create music that sends a positive message of hope to their fans and that speak of socially aware ideals.

Skillet has come a long way since John Coopers pastor encouraged him to make music way back at the start of his emergence into Christian rock. The bands early influences of other bands such as 'Yes' and 'Dream Theater' can still be spotted, but they have also created their own unique sound that for rock fans, are truly a blessing.
