What is American Anime Awards?
Anime means Animation, and American Anime Awards are a series of awards designed to recognize excellence in the release of anime and manga in North America. It's official website is: http://www.americananimeawards.com/ where you can find informaiton about the inaugural categories and finalists.

When is American Anime Awards held?

The first American Anime Awards was held on February 24th, 2007 in New York City by New York Comic Con. So this is a quite new award.

Who would be nominated in this awards?
To be eligible for an award, anime or manga must be available in the U.S. during the previous year, whether by DVD (or book or periodical, in the case of manga), national TV, or theatrical release. Only top anime and manga companies, including Viz, Tokyopop, Media Blasters, Geneon, FUNimation, Del Rey, Bandai, and ADV Films enrolled this year's award.

Who and how to select the winners?
Winners are decided by voting of fans which is conducted via an online ballot system.The industry news site ICv2 hosts and tracks the fan voting to ensure the accuracy and fairness.
