Bloggers, this word is really fascinating. Its was neither in any language dictionaries until few years back, and now Blogger, Blogging, and Blogs has reached millions in number. Amazing ! According to Rebecca Blood's essay-" WeBlogs: a history and perspective", Blog is the truncated word to WeBlog which means 'Web Logs', yes the online journal where posts are made to log the diaries not only for personals but also for institutions, companies, team working on something like researches, rapid development workers, and a lot, who all want to share and give updates, what they are doing, what is the progress, or where they actually are and so on.
I am Blogger too and now I own around TWENTY-FIVE or more Blogs and I prefer to Blog on several topics. Why I started to Blog- The answer is the Blog itself. I was searching for some sorts of news, and I found the news covered in a Blog and not anywhere. So this made me to start my first Blog and move on for the present state of more than TWENTY-FIVE Blogs. I am not a professional writer, and neither I do have such a lot of free time to write for the TWENTY-FIVE Blogs. But I do Blog for all these Blogs and I love to do that, whenever I have a spare time.
Q: Why is that so ?
A: The answer is the Blog itself.
Just above I have written about how I started my first Blog. That is the very reason that you have to Blog. In Web 2.0 where we have a vague idea of making everything to share and let people know about anything from the Internet, one of the answers is the Blog.
Now, to the Debate : Should Bloggers and citizen journalists have an opportunity to get credentials so they can cover Congress the same way mainstream media journalists do?
Why I thought to write for "Yes", is almost clear from above. But anyway, let me be specific to the topic and write something more. Blogging is a passion and the real time experience. It's not only a passion but again the eye witnesses. It's not only the eye witness but also ones perception towards something. This is what a Blog is and what the Bloggers are. You see something and you thought you have to write something on that. You sat down with your notebook or PC or even cell phone and publish to a Blog, that's it, your article, your witnesses, your perception and your experiences all are Blogged. Another guy visits the Blog and your perceptions are now on air, People start to discuss on that, comment on that, and now it becomes a news Item. That's what a Blog is.
Sometimes Bloggers are really faster than any of the mainstream media journalists. This is because of the very reason I have mentioned just above. So if the Bloggers and the citizen journalists have an opportunity to get the credentials, it will definitely be better not only for them but also for the news industry, also for the media and press and the most for the people who always wait for the fact and truth to come in front of them.
However, every Blogger should always be factual, genuine, and always with the dynamic contents if possible. One day, the news industry will employ Bloggers as their sources to news, and there will be a lot of Bloggers freelancing for many agencies and the people will really be beneficial by this.
I want to mention here something from the Michael Moore's Film 'Fahrenheit 911'. In the movie there are some issues mentioned regarding the Presidential Election. I want to say George W. Bush won't have elected as the President if there were some sorts of credentials for Bloggers and the citizen journalists, or there were some witnesses who prefer to Blog.
Enjoy Blogging.
