Novel excerpts: Kidnapping

Hostage

She was alone in the room, where she sat, dejected, saturnine and forlorn. The curtains were open, giving rise to a gusty breeze as dark shadows flittered across the white, uneven walls. With one eye open, she surveyed her surroundings, where was she? She twisted her face into a pained expression, as she tried to remember just how and why she was in this compromising situation. As she tried to get up out of the bed, she winced, biting her lip in bitter anguish. Someone somewhere was going to pay for the damage they had done to her. Her memory was still hazy, but she knew that a couple of weeks ago her life had been normal, just how it was that she got herself into this mess, she did not know, but she was determined to find out.

When she awoke later in the night, she was perspiring heavily, and her breath came in short sharp bursts. Her hands had been tied behind her back, and she was having great difficulty moving. "Eat this" said the voice of a gruff stranger as she squinted up at the stranger before her. He was not very pleasant looking, he had short, wiry black hair, a crooked nose and was of stocky build with broad shoulders and a wide neck. "I said eat this bitch!" the stranger spat out as he towered over her, as he did this she noticed that he had a large scar on his left cheek, one that was quite disfiguring. Before she had the chance to ponder upon how he appropriated this scar, a second stranger entered the room, this one appeared to be even gruffer than the first. "Untie her Ray", the first stranger did as he was told and the hostage felt herself being flung roughly against the back wall. She felt uncomfortably aware of her sexuality as she realised for the first time that she was dressed in nothing but a holey pair of socks and a small, loose-fitting tee shirt. Her tee shirt, soaked with perspiration clung to her bare breasts and she felt uncomfortable and exposed, she was however too disorientated to be embarrassed. "What's your name bitch?" The hostage moved her lips to speak but no sound came out "I said what is your name?" She felt herself being slapped hard across the face as the second stranger glanced menacingly at her, gritting his teeth in disgust. "I I - d-don't know" she stammered, suddenly she felt a surge of anger rising up within her, how dare they treat her this way? What had she done wrong? "We'll see if this will make you remember then" said the second hostage as he forced her legs apart, the hostage
