My Mom & Dad grew up in the Great Depression, so our home was always recycling and re-using. Once you start doing this, you will see you can save money as well as OUR PLANET.
My grandma re-used tin cans and planted vegetables in them.
Toilet paper rolls were used as puppets or we made flowers out of them, then when we were done they went into the compost pile.
Old refrigerators were buried with the lid up and laying on its back in the earth and filled with soil to raise fish bait.
Scrap welding pipe and pieces were made into decorative art by my dad.
My grandma recycled paper and tore them into strips and made greeting and holiday cards.
Old dish towels were turned into fabulous keepsake quilts, along with some old clothes.
We managed to re-use many things.
The best thing I have seen so far is a place called FREECYCLE.ORG where everyday items are given away daily by the dozens. If you have an item that you don't want, you simply list it & someone will pick it up. If your looking for something, you post your need and someone will reply. ONE CATCH. It must be FREE.
