Your Visa Card. Ha, Ha. Ideal from the child's perspective, but maybe not from yours. Just be sure to set a limit on it and don't let him have it for too long.
Give him a CD by his favorite artist. If he doesn't have a favorite artist, find out what he listens to the most and search it on Amazon. When you find it, click on Customers who bought this item also bought "name" and listen to that. Don't buy anything objectionable to you or his parents ie. swear words, sexual content, bad message, etc. Maybe you could have him or his best friend listen to a sample and give you their honest opinion. Actually, a music store site or location might be more helpful, but I find Amazon very comprehensive and they do carry music there. Don't forget a CD player if he doesn't have one, or an MP3 Player. They are all the rage now. Get a portable player and include earphones so he can listen to his music on the bus or while walking or exercising without disturbing other people. Consider rechargeable batteries and a battery recharger to go along with the portable player so he can go camping with it. Speaking of camping, how about some gear or a rechargeable flashlight that you crank to juice up the batteries again?
