Short stories: Tales of horror

The warm water gently washed over her silken skin. Ensconced in the large, spacious bathtub, her head lulled back against the cold white porcelain. The water was warm, but not hot. Just comfortable enough to bathe in without being burnt. A long release of breath finally relaxed her tense muscles. A small smile crossed her face and her mind went completely blank as she drifted into the land of dreams.

An hour later, her eyes snapped open as she let out a long, piercing scream. The water was burning. She tried to move her arms, only to find her body wasn't responding.

Soon enough, her screams died into a small whimper as her flesh scratched into burns, her skin melting with piercing pain. Not so distracted by pain, she glanced at the water. She couldn't fulfill that anymore. One last tear dripped down her cheek as the water rose above her nose, cutting off her air supply.

She held her breath, and continued to try and will her limbs to move. They wouldn't. She held onto that breath, her mind blank, her lungs burning with the deprivation of breath. She felt herself finally reach the end as she blacked out.

Her boyfriend awoke the next morning, glancing at the alarm clock residing beside his bed. Almost with an urgent, yet regretful sigh, he flung the covers off of his body, swooping his legs to dangle off the side of his bed. Stretching out, he accidentally lost his balance, ending up on his back on the bed. His alarm continued to blare it's annoying beep, and he sat back up, slamming a fist almost routinely onto it's surface. As the morning passed by, he was noticeably moving quicker than usual. He was late to meet his girlfriend. Messily combing his hair,
