The possibilities for finding things to write short stories about is endless. take your own personal life experiences and write about them. If you are forgetful and need a little help remembering certain events, then carry a notebook and pen around with you. Write down things that you see and don't want to forget.
Looking around at the world all around us, seeing images and all of our surroundings can be a great place to start looking for ideas. Maybe you hear someone say something that you do not want to forget, write it down for future use. That is the great part of carrying around a notebook and pen, every time you see or hear something that you like you can immediately write it down so you don't forget.
Think about the obvious ~
What are you interested in?
What do you do for a living?
What are your hobbies?
Where have you traveled to?
What has happened to you in your past?
Do you have children or pets?
What have you seen that is out of the ordinary?
What bugs you most about the world we live in?
What inspires you?
What news stories catch your eye?
Think about something that stands out from the rest of your experiences and write about it. Everyone has several stories to tell. It can be about anything taht you want it to be about. There are ideas to write about no matter where you look. Whatever you write about you will create an audience of people that are interested in that topic.
When writing a short story stick to one topic at a time. Write only that one per story. Once you begin writing on the topic of your choose things should come pretty easily for you. Especially if you have a personal experience with that topic, it should be easy to write about.
