It is a fact that republicans are pulling away, and the real reason is, as always, Politics. The elections are too close to go against the Vox-populi in America. The American people finally realized that this administration had no strategy for a war that should not have happened this way. It is also a fact that the democrats are with their lack of consistency, jeopardizing the possibility to represent the American People. Many Americans want to end the war, but also many Americans Want a new strategy. The reality is that The US cannot afford to leave the war in Iraq, and I am not talking about National Security reasons, that is the least of the concerns. The real reason why America Cannot leave is because it owes that to the International Community and the Iraqi people. This country embarked in a campaign to topple an authoritarian regime and provide the Iraqis and the world with a functioning democracy. The world was aware of the difficulty of the task and the problems that it was going to cause to the international community. Nevertheless The US Government went ahead in full force without clear planning, enough tools and resources and worst, without a real vision of the cultural, political and social issues it was going to confront once the war was over. America Now needs to commit to a new strategy, involve the international community to save the Iraq people from total chaos and provide what it always promised. Something less than that would just be shameful.
