All my life I have been writing, writing about love, friends, adolescent, sex and whatever load of crab that comes in my mind; and I must admit it has been fun. Now it's for the first time I am writing for people to actually hear my story, it's a pity it has to do with politics or should I say employment system in South Africa.
It sucks! "We are looking for a previously disadvantaged candidate with a phd in chemical engineering and 10 years of experience in management, and a car". Now how is that for a contradiction, how could this candidate be previously disadvantaged if he had clearly done so well in his life. Coming from a poor background it would have been highly impossible to have done so well-could someone rephrase the word previously disadvantaged for me please.
They will say we want more and more woman to work, but did you know if you are pregnant you are gladly refused to work in many instances. But hello they said discrimination against woman should be terminated, but what is so wrong about a woman falling pregnant? Normally a fair deal could be made in that instance but apparently when you are pregnant it seems like you can't use your brain as well. I know of many women who have been refused to work because of they are pregnant now how is that for a democracy.
I really hate to write about this, but it just remind of how the system has been really unfair to us. It is true this BEE deals are for the already well off individuals and good English education background. Now are day we all look like vultures waiting to cut each others throat, apparently man think because you work in their field you should be able to be like them. I mean women are still like prey for every sicko, you cannot tell a woman to go out at night to work just to proof a point.
The truth is man and woman are all the same, we all have our own fears somehow somewhere, and now we a caught out in a ladder of competition in the work place.
This is a real frustrating topic, and whats more frustrating is to be a black, pregnant women looking for a Job. At first before falling pregnant I was a good candidate for skills development programs, not that I did not have the skills and expirience; only because I was a young black woman with a skill to be developed.
Why the hell did I go to school, if thats all I am good for. Nobody even care about how I might be looking for a good life just like they all have. I mean I too need my own family and to make my own money.
Black young people are now used like toys, most of the white kids don't get to suffer with this kind of thing and it's a fact. The only difficult thing on their side is getting qualification, I mean not that it matters because they will always find employment anyway!
For a black man to be qualified, it will only be the beginning of an uphill battle. They want you to sweep the floors, do photocopies, run around like a puppy in order to proof first that you are real black person, and after years of working you might be able to make you own rules.
Being Black is now something for the public and media, it is no longer about you, the sacrifice you have put in to be where you are. It is now an excuse for people to think that we are where we are because of our previously disatvantage status.
This is some real politic, is like introducing a whole new disease to the world-and I don't whether to like or hate it. Because I don't to be part of the politics I just wnat to be employed.
This is said through a passion that cannot be hindered at all.
