I'm not an American. I live in the UK, a country with very close social and political ties with the US. I live in perhaps the only country willing to openly call the United States it's friend. I personally find American a deeply fascinating place, to me it is a country where contradiction rules supreme. Almost every issue seems to be split right down the middle, and both sides always appear to be completely opposed to each other. It is no surprise to me, then, that Americans can only see their President as either a villain or a visionary. What does surprise me, however is the fact that there are still some people left who fall for the media's presentation of Bush as a great leader and conquering war hero. To me Bush is, in short, nothing more than an idiot.

Bush's entire political life has been surrounded by controversy. His first election win was originally called for Al Gore by one TV network, then Bush by another. Then in the confusion that ensued, Bush came out victorious thanks to a decision made by the Supreme Court. The amount of evidence supporting foul play in various aspects of the election is staggering considering the stakes involved. How can it be possible for there to be ANY amount of bias when deciding who should be commander in chief of one of the most dangerous armies on the planet? And after the shocking terrorist attacks on the US which followed shortly, that army was thrown into action. First off we have the invasion of Afghanistan to hunt down the shadowy Osama Bin Laden, the supposed mastermind of the attacks. A force smaller in number than the police who maintain law in New York was sent into one of the most remote locations on the planet to look for one man, and rather unsurprisingly they didn't find him. Of course, the fact that almost all of the bombers came from Saudi Arabia, and that Bin Laden himself is Saudi didn't really enter into Bush's game-plan. And so, the Taliban were removed from Afghanistan for having nothing to do with the terrorist attacks. There are still many people who believe that the hunt for Bin Laden was merely a front, and that the involvement in Afghanistan was more to do with a gas pipeline being built by a consortium which was led by American company Unocal and the Delta Oil Company of Saudi Arabia. Even assuming that the pipeline has no connection to the invasion, how anyone can see such incompetency in catching supposedly the world's biggest terrorist as visionary is beyond me. Bin Laden is still at large,
