The American Revolution Was a Revolution
Was the American Revolution truly a revolution? Well in the words of John Paul Jones, "I have not yet begun to fight." These words make you wonder about the kind of man he was. He was a man that loved his country and won the most important sea battle. People who are loyal to their own country are commended. Then those people who were still loyal to their king should be ashamed. The American Revolution was truly a revolution because it was a complete and sudden change in government and society, and it was by the people.
First of all, the American Revolution was truly a revolution because it was a complete and sudden change in government. It was a change in government by the Americans getting rid of the taxes that Britain had placed on them. One of those taxes was the tea tax. The Americans did not get their tea until they paid that tea. So that led up to the Boston Tea Party that was a very important part of history in our American history. Two other taxes were the Sugar tax and the Stamp tax. These taxes were just dumb ways for Britain to make money. A second piece of evidence of why the American Revolution was a change in government is that the Americans did not have a king anymore to control them. So they did not have a Monarchy anymore and developed the republicanism system as their government. This allowed the people to vote for those that they thought would be a good leader. A last piece of evidence is the Treaty of Paris in 1783. This document said that the Americans had declared their independence and were now free people.
Next, the American Revolution was truly a revolution because it was a complete and sudden change in society. The first piece of evidence to back this up is that the women gain rights. They gained the right to vote, own property, and a lot of other things. This was a big change in society because women have never had rights before. Another piece of evidence is that the people were free. Most of the free people were white men and women but there were some blacks. It also gave them more power in government because they got to vote. A last piece of evidence is that the Americans were able to claim a lot more land. They mostly took over Britain's part of North America. It made them able to move more West, which led up to more people coming over to America.
Finally, the American Revolution was truly a revolution because it was by the people. A piece of evidence to back
