Tips for improving your Internet research skills and writing

Too often do us keen-readers see many "clone-articles" giving us a single fact in the exact wording it was in when the "writer" did their "research" using Google and less than four clicks of a mouse. That's not research, that's a joke.

Real internet research should involve at least five tabs in your browser with which you can compare the information of different sources in order to make an accurate conclusion. Research should be taken not only from the first few web pages the search engine comes up with, but also from those more obscure ones on the fifth or sixth page of results.

Good research undoubtedly makes a piece of writing more pleasurable for the knowledge-seeking-reader to cast their gaze upon. There is nothing more irritating than finding an article where the writer has stated some facts which are wrong or contradict the rest of the article. The signs of good research in an article include references to the sources of information, comparisons of information and quotes and criticisms thereof. When some level of effort has obviously gone into an article it gives the reader more respect for the author. When a writer seems to know what they are writing about it gives the article a sense of authority over those which are based on opinion or have been pasted straight in from Wikipedia.

In all, earn your writing more respect by using several sources of information and getting some quotes in to back up those opinions.
