What are the main reasons for gym-goers losing the motivation or interest in their newly found regime? Initially the type of member can be identified by the choice of club that is sought after. There are three routes that can be taken when joining a gym; the local authority center, small private health club and large chain. All have their advantages and disadvantages. Choosing the right club can often be the crucial part as to when and how often you will go. Below is a rough guide in what to look for in a health club to assist in maximizing your membership.
Key questions when joining a Health Club for the very first time would be, "will this become a habitual part of my lifestyle from now on?" "How will I fit this into my hectic schedule?" "How will I keep it up?"
When it comes to retaining members it is often the small private health clubs that will work the hardest when it comes to encouraging you back in. Those with a membership capacity of between 500 and 1500 will identify that it is better business for them to focus on keeping the people they already have rather than spending over the odds on external marketing. They will often strive to ensure higher levels of customer service and be more likely to listen to their member's complaints or suggestions. By being smaller they will often aim to develop a social hub so that the club becomes a destination for socializing as well as exercise. Setting aside cost, as understandably it will be the small health club that will undoubtedly have the higher fee, identify and set into a list the main reasons why you are unlikely to give up on going to the gym. If spare time is something you consider to be a problem then look for the health club that offers the best in terms of opening hours, studio programs and a pool that is not often limited to free swimming more than 20% of the time. You may also want to consider that the club may actively try to contact you if you fail to get to the club for a few months; it is always worth considering this may be the gentle push you need to kick start your regime again. "I'm not sporty, i have health issues and have been encouraged by the family doctor to do some exercise" - Understandably a gym is going to be one of the last places that you'll want to visit four times a week unless you have an immense desire to succeed. Ideally you will want to look for a club that has the back up to ensure that you stick with your goals. Surprisingly a gym with around 1000 members
