Ah, the lucky few who actually get to choose! Deciding whether or not to pursue a business degree is not really a choice, it's a privilege. If you can pass the required courses to choose business, do so!
The college I attended had very strict quantitative reasoning requirements. Not only was passing college level Algebra required, but beginning Calculus as well. I guess they wanted to include all those accountants and data base managers in with the marketing majors. The really sad part was that non-business majors couldn't even take something a simple as basic marketing or advertising. We were totally ostracized from the business school.
Those of us not mathematically inclined had few choices for a major. I couldn't pass Algebra, opted for statistics instead, and wound up as a Sociology major. Guess what? There aren't any jobs for a recent grad with a Sociology major, even with a good GPA. (3.56) Take it from a non-business major, go for the business degree!
In today's economy, the money goes to those who can prove they know how to play with numbers, the rest of us get stuck in customer service and work for peanuts. Just because I can't crunch the numbers doesn't mean I wouldn't love to have some big bills to count!
My advice? Do the math, literally, and if you can be a business major, do it! Your bank account will thank you.
