I'll try to explain why the Internet and more specifically blogging has caused such a loss in actual human interaction. I'm speaking in terms of physical interaction.
Before the blogging scene came to be there was the simplistic value of the Internet. It was designed for the sharing of information amongst people for the common good of all who partook in it's glory. Since then the Internet has become more personable, as such, it's much easier for the common individual to use and traverse. This is good because it allows for the diversity of informative sources to be communicated. There is the negative aspect however that it also allows for a cluster of unwanted information. Obviously it's not completely unwanted or nobody would have posted it, generally though nobody but the person posting it cares that it's on the Internet.
There is a breakdown in the types of blogs. There are informative blogs which cater to whomever their target audience is and there is personal blogging. There is a common place for the informative blog, it does exactly what the Internet was intended to do, provides information to reads about subjects of interest. Personal blogs are a record of someone's day.
Lets break this off into a slight tangent which is actually quite relevant. There are many people who feel that people should mind their own business and not toil in others lives. However it's likely that these same people read someone's personal blog. Why is that? Is your life really so uninteresting that you have to live vicariously through someone else? I can see no reason why any person feels the need to read the personal blog of someone they don't even know. You should go out and experience the world in real life. This plays into the fascination people have with the celebrity gossip that is so readily available on the Internet. It's understandable that one would like to have a lavish lifestyle like the Hollywood acolytes. Let it be known that you'll never get there if you're sitting at your computer reading someone's blog about what K-Fed bought today.
If you're going to write a personal blog please make it about something other than your daily life. It's not your fault that people read your blog, it is your fault that you make it a possibility.
There is a reason why everyone who ever existed isn't in an encyclopedia and why you don't learn about them in school. I promise you that you're not likely to read anyone's personal blog about their day at school or college that you or any generation to come will need or care to learn about.
This all brings us back to the original point, blogs have caused a decline in human interaction. The chances are that if someone is reading your blog about your personal life, the actually know you and if you're not communicating with them directly they probably don't know you well enough to care about your day.
So save the limited number of IP addresses available until Version 6 for someone who has informative subject matter. There's already plenty of worthless information on the Internet...don't blog.
