Why are we in Britain still not able to know exactly what our rights are within a law abiding citizenship.
Britain is yet again lagging behind other countries by simply not adopting a bill of rights that most western civilized peoples should now have access to.
We should know exactly what we have to do within our country to keep within its laws and our behavior should be clearly and precisely defined, then anyone in breach of said constitutional requirements will answer to the judicial system, that is/should be placed at the disposal of every law abiding British citizen, especially when constitutional matters are in jeopardy or unfulfilled.
A bill of rights would take away any doubts and it would reinforce, I feel other peoples belief in a more people orientated country, if you have any doubts about how people feel with regard to successive governments then look at the voting figures.
Yes perhaps it would also be a good idea to modify many of our laws and statutes to enable the constitution to work and allow our people, government and the legal system better and fairer access.
If people should have to behave according to certain stated and defined behavior patterns then too should the 'British Constitution' also set out our rights as legal and entitled citizens.
Legal and entitled should mean that being a British subject you should have been born in this country (England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales)You should be able to prove this and also be eligible to demand a British Passport.
I am not saying here that those people who become naturalized British citizens and/or those who seek naturalization should not have their constitutional rights and requirements stated clearly.
It is not up to me as an individual to state any rights on behalf of any government or our countries people, that should be done in a democratic way, giving everyone a chance to contribute to the finished document/documents. Perhaps we should have demands and right separated yet still within the scope of our countries constitution.
I am merely the writer of this article and I feel that there can be little or no objection to the suggestion of a constitution, although there have been many politicians over many years who have made similar suggestion based around this article but just like bullying was discussed I remember more than fifty years ago - We still are not truly tackling this matter even at this later date.
The only statement that I can further add to that written before in this article is 'WHY'
