Make a Memory Frame for the Car Buff
If you have a car buff in your family, or on your "gift list".. why not try making something unique, and you don't have to draw a line!
Find a wide wooden frame with or without glass.. next find photographs of cars, if you know the specific type of car, then thats even better. More than likely your "car buff" has pictures of him or herself with their favorite car.
Gently secure the pictures to paper, and then photocopy them in black and white. This has a very stunning effect. Cut out your pictures in various sizes and shapes, and then decoupage them to the frame, overlapping pictures as you go. Or simply mix 1/2 white glue with 1/2 water and paste your paper pictures to the wooden frame pressing hard to push out the bubbles with an old paint brush.
Once you have the frame covered (no wood showing) then coat the whole frame with another coat of your glue. Let it dry completely, then put 2 coats of water based varathane on the frame over all the pictures (use waterbased varathane, so as not to yellow the whites in your pictures).
Now you have a really nice personalized frame for your Car Buff... you can take this another step further, by placing a good picture of the car in the frame, or a license plate, or old road maps, or vintage car ads.. anything to personalize it, or just give the frame as a gift, and let them put things in it.
The frame is a work of art on its own.. and you didn't have to draw a line!
