The Word
Why is it used so openly?
Carelessly it often breaks hearts,
and brings about sadness
to all who believe in its worth.
Is it a trap for those who seek
the warmth, gentleness and safety
from the one who whispers it
with a disguised tenderness?
How do we know that the word
can be spoken in truth, and
from the heart, and soul of the one,
who says it again, and again?
Or is the word something that should be
filed away, and categorized with
heartache, mistrust, and loneliness,
in the place where the "player" dwells.

Deep inside of me.
