It is true that men are favored when it comes to certain areas of life, but, due to equal oportunities, there are more and more areas where women are becoming equally, if not more, favored than men.
The battle of the sexes is nothing new. Women have been beating down that door for years. Thanks to the efforts of the Susan B. Anthony's of the world women have a lot more rights than they once had. It was once inconceivable to think of a woman as an artist, a police officer, a member of the clergy, a lawyer, or anything besides a mother, nurse, teacher or librarian. Women have come a long way in achieving gender equality and, in many ways, they've surpassed men.
Though women didn't always have certain rights, they did have a certain power. They were the ones who determined how fast and how sexual a relationship went. When they went out on dates they never paid. They had the doors opened for them and chairs pulled out for them. They had it pretty good in the lady department.
The trade up for gentlemen behavior, though, was a domineering attitude in which a lot of men thought they were superior to women. Because they DID pay, they WERE the breadwinners, they CARRIED the sperm... the seed of life. They were definitely favored because they were the ones running the show.
Women took some of that power, though. I've been on several dates where I (the woman) paid my half or even all of the bill. I don't think I've ever had a man pull out a chair for me, and I can't remember the last time a man held open a door for me (in fact, they see me coming and walk on through and don't even think twice about stopping to hold it open). Because of equality, those old gentlemanly behaviors are gone... but that's alright. I'd rather have a man think of me as his equal than be nice to me on a date and try to take my power away from me at home.
I don't think men are inferior in today's society at all, but I don't think they're favored anymore either. Once upon a time they were.... even 20 years ago they were... but not anymore. I'm sure they are on the construction site, or at the local strip joint, but at the office, on the street, in a store, or on a date they are not favored. They are equal to women... just as they should be.
