On the surface it would appear that things are on a upswing from the past. In all honesty you'd have to look at the entire picture here before actually saying things are improving. Yes, there are technilogical improvements that make our lives seem easier, and the nation is moving itself towards healthier eating habits or so it all would seem as campaigns and commercials clog our day to day lives. Our lives have actually become harder to live, and sadly most would argue this because we have all been told otherwise so much so by the media and our politicians that we have become blind to the actual facts.
Looking into where we've been and where we are at now is sometimes harder to do than just taking the media's word that we are in a much better world. Take a minute and think about how many commercials, e-mails, or even magazine ads that talk about solving debt problems. These alone have doubled even tripled since 2001. Just how these ads are paid for is an easy guess because they are not non-profit organizations, they are paid money and have become very lucritave businesses. Debt collectors are in high demand as well. So, for all the technology we now possess and buy without a second thought using plastic cards containing money that isn't ours, we happily pay sometimes two times the original price of the item. I was at a big electronics store the other day paying for my electronics in cash and the people at the store had to jump through hoops to accept my cash payment. The store manager was called and it was a huge hassle. The entire time I was encouraged to use a credit card or apply for one right there. This is a perfect example to the nation as to the way we've all become used to and accepting of the fact we as consumers at just about any income level will incurr debt. Compared to the 80's and 90's it is apparent to me that we've become more and more dependant upon credit and are falling further and further into debt.
Our kids are already used to credit cards, and have fallen victim to an even worse monster. Fast Food has come full circle with it's lies about healthy eating poisoning this nation. I have fallen for their lies as well. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that our kids are fatter and less active. Between fast food chains, technology, and the debt that parents incurr to keep the kids happy and living good our children are more and more coming home from school and sitting in front of a video game until both parents get home. Now ask yourself,
