anyway. The difference with Miele however is that optional filters are standard fit filters which can be installed in a number of different canisters made by Miele and thus cuts down the time for searching for HEPA filters with particular model numbers of vacuums wondering if your model can take them or not.
The S4210 uses the same blue print as most Miele cylinders from the same excellent design of pip lock fittings on the tubes, handle and floor head which means they will never come off unless the button is pushed to unlock everything; all plastics contained on the S4210 are excellent and feels like it is made to last from the chunky metal rotary dial which allows owners to have preset selections of suction rather than a continuous dial, to the bin door release which is soft and has no sharp protrusions and the auto cord rewind and On pedals are clearly marked which continue to blend in with the soft, organic and classic look of a European designed cylinder/small canister cleaner. It is a pity that no outward bumpers are visibly protruding on the body but the underside is grey/black to prevent scratches and bumps from destroying the colourful paint work on the top.
The pre-selected suction speeds aren't displayed with wattage levels but rather icons of how best the suction speeds can be used, from icons such as a set of billowy curtains to indicate one of the lower speeds, to an icon of a carpet to indicate higher speeds of suction available. Whilst this is useful for anyone who has no clue about using the rotary dial, it certainly is helpful for anyone who wants to get the best suggestive measures of use out of this compact unit.
Like other cylinders on the market Miele have retained a curvy handle with an air outlet valve for further reduction of suction. I find this very useful particularly cleaning bathroom mats which normally have a tendency to roll up into a floor head. A fine metal strip on the handle is also built in to reduce anti static electricity when in use.

Over my similarly designed and less compact Sebo KI, the Miele S4210 has an extremely whisper quiet motor even when the motor is raised to the final two settings for maximum suction and with 1800 watts of total power, how much power do you need? Over bagless cyclonic cylinders I have used, suction with a bagged canister never wavers because there is no filter to clog when the dust gets picked up. I couldn't believe how quiet this vacuum was until I vacuumed around sleeping parents
