The Single Flower in a Field
Ghosts of the past sweep the fields
Interludes of frosted breath, like silvery cobwebs suspended in mid-air, dance upon silken breezes
While armies traipse across the meadow bucolic
By the stream the sun spotlights young love
A warrior, a wife, silence the only sound
Impassioned he serenades her, recites romantic verse
Within her eyes, upon her cheeks a sanguine rose pales and withers in an augury of finality
An eagle soars against snow-capped mountains
The warrior's heartbeat intensifies
Running his own cold, breathless clouds splatter as he speeds through the open meadow on a stallion equipped for a god
Ride!' the villagers cry
She wails for her warrior
The single flower in a field
