Why Atheists are right

be DISPROVED, either. For those of religious faith, no explanation is necessary. I don't feel a need to defend my beliefs to an atheist-I'm quite comfortable with atheists; my atheist friends and acquaintances respect me and I respect them.

More to the point, the proof or non-proof of God is irrelevant. A recent book by another former atheist scientist, THE PHYSICS OF IMMORTALITY, feels physics can and will prove the existence of God, which he calls, OMEGA POINT. I confess I could not get through the book, for I am a history nerd and not a science geek, but it really was nothing more than Aristotle's old argument of First Necessary Cause, The Unmoved Mover, Thought Thinking Itself. Even if science could prove the existence of Aristotle's Unmoved Mover, or the physicist's Omega Point, it would not mean much.

It could never prove this was a God Who loved us. And that, an act of faith, requires humility to enter into the mystery.

P.S. I think if believers are threatened by atheists, perhaps they are the ones with a crisis in faith. I don't need science to "prove" the existence of God to me. Or, as the late, great Albert Schweitzer said, "I cannot prove to you that God exists, all I know is that, for me, following Jesus Christ is the best way I can live." Can't hurt anyone's feelings with that, I hope!
