Short stories: Finding love

I can't get this stupid smile off my face. How did I get here? Tonight is going to change my life. I'm a dirt prince waiting for my diamond princess. Amber is the most beautiful creature God ever created. If God created nothing else it wouldn't of mattered as long as he created this angel. I can't stop shaking. I grab the steering wheel of my Ford P.O.S Topaz and take a shaky deep breath. "Alright man mellow out you can do this." It's almost ten. The parking lot lights start going off one at a time till the only one left on is the one I'm parked under, next to the employee's cars.

Earlier that day I finally got the balls to ask out Amber. I can't believe she said yes. The plan was to pick her up from the department store where she worked and we would go to a Saint Patty's Day party my older brother was throwing.

I see the store lights go out and my heart begins skipping like a scratched c.d. I turn the stereo down to create a background music feel for the amazing moment that is about to happen. I check myself in the rearview mirror making sure the black plastic ball on my silver lip ring is centered. I rest my head back on the pleather headrest my fire engine red dyed hair crunches as a result of too much hair gel. "God if you make this happen for me I'll never do drugs or drink or swear again," I prayed silently.
The first employee comes out of the dark store followed three others and then I see her.

I got to take a break here. I'm sure every grammar professor out there would cut this up as a break in the story line or whatever. But I have to explain something. This isn't a writer to reader situation. This is too important to me. This is me to you. Person to person. When I saw that girl on that night come out of that store it was the most amazing moment of my life. She was beautiful on a level that it is beyond explanation. But I'm going to try but just so you know it is sure to not due her justice.

My God she's amazing. As she floats towards my car the light from the parking lot light surrounded her like an angelic vision I read about in the Bible. It was like the light belonged to her and was only allowed to escape and fill the rest of the world with her permission.

She'd just gotten off of a twelve-hour shift but you would never of known. Her long brown hair was up in a ponytail, it was a sign of her casual elegant beauty. Her perfect figure seemed to cut through the moment that I was frozen in. I get out of my car, the cool night time air hits me filling my bare arms with goose bumps. I start the nervous march to meet her half way, my hands in my pockets trying to wipe the sweat off my palms. Every step closer I notice more incredible details, her deep jade eyes cut through me. Our paths finally met at a moment frozen forever in time. Nothing was said but we both knew what was happening, stories of star-crossed lovers aren't just in Shakespeare plays. True love can happen anytime anywhere.

That night the plan was just to pick up a hot girl and roll over to a party. But like the Highwaymen song goes "The road goes on forever and the party never ends." I'm still in love with that girl, my wife, as much now as I was when I was just a scarred kid in a parking lot on St. Patrick's Day six years ago.
