I am a baby boomer person too. In fact, I like the phrase known as the 3rd Age. Being on early retirement as an option rather than mandatory puts me on a totally different platform of perspectives.
It boils in all our blood to own a business one day. After working for almost thirty years in the civil and private sector, I have decided enough is enough. It is time to make my own move. And I did just that.
Starting, running and owning a business of our own is not difficult. It all depends on what we love to do most. For example, I love to generate monthly passive income. As the result, I begin to search and select only business opporutunities along my line of thoughts. Today, I am proud to own my own online education business (www.xthreemglobal.com) which allow me to interact business with clients locally and international. It is a business that both my wife and I could run without having the headache of employing staff, office rental, utilities to pay, etc, etc. In fact, we work from home.
My advice to my fellow baby boomers about starting a business is this. Always concentrate on one business. It must be your primary one. This is where you need to spend the most time, energy, effort and finance on. Once, it is built up and running stable, then only you should look for other business opportunities which also relates to your primary business. This is my own business style but it has worked for me.
For us baby boomers, finance may not be the greatest hindrance. Let our years of experiences and wisdom propel us to execute the right moves and strategies. We are not young but we should be wise and knowledgeable. It is my sincere hope and dream to see and hear my fellow baby boomers perched on the pinnacles of business and financial success. The road is still not easy but we are supporting each other, right?
