Top ten Television actresses

Back in the day, people who were on television were considered almost B actors or actresses. Those who could cut it would star in film or stage; those on the tele were considered lesser in some way.

These days, so many people go from one media to the next, it is hard to keep track! Not to mention, those in television shows are just as talented as those in film.

It is a hard to narrow a list to ten, but here are my choices, not in any particular order. They all deserve a round of applause.

1. Carol Burnett: This zany comedian kept me in stitches as a child! I looked forward to seeing her specials or her show. I also enjoyed her in Mama's Family. To me, she was a trend setter. An icon.

2. Tyne Daly: This diverse actress has kept her appeal and transitioned her talents from Cagney and Lacey to the more recent Judging Amy. She is genuine, believable, and enjoyable. She shows that ladies 50+ can still make a show shine!

3. Elizabeth Montgomery: My favorite witch! As Samantha on Bewitched, she was engaging, funny, and a joy to watch. Her show proved to be a precursor to many other shows about witchcraft and magic. It was her sunny personality that made the topic less taboo. Her early death from breast cancer was a real loss.

4. Barbara Eden: I dreamed of Jeannie! I laughed with The Harper Valley PTA. She was more than a ditzy blonde with a nice body. She brought life and humor to her roles like no one else! She has also been in other movie of the week type shows which showcase her skill. I cannot imagine anyone else having the skill of pulling of the role of Jeannie the way she did. She managed to make it adorable rather than graphic; her naivety was her bubbling personality.

5. Sally Field: This little powerhouse is still in full motion! As Gidget and The Flying Nun, she wow-ed my parents generation. Her bubbly spirit made her a joy to watch. Kids still tune in to Nick at Night to catch re-runs! She departed TV for film and made several wonderful flicks, showing her diversity as an actress. Then, she returned to her TV home guest casting on ER as a bipolar mother to Abby, then to her own set for Brothers and Sisters where she makes the show a success. She holds her age with dignity and grace; she is beyond talented and genuine. Her name to a cast list makes a show worth seeing!

6. Carolyn Jones: Du-du-du-du-DU *snap* *snap* I loved Mortisha! Carolyn Jones set into motion a quirky, unique, and lovable character apart with her dour expressions,
