The lover as rapist: An alarming trend

Rape is a crime of violence. There is no such thing as rape being an act of love. One cannot love someone else unless they respect them. Respect does not allow for acts of violence such as rape.

I have known people who have done terrible things to me, only to claim, "But I love you!" No, such people do not love. They do not even love themselves. Such people seem to want to destroy the very persons they are attracted to-this is sick, and it is not love.

If you allow someone to abuse you, you do not have much positive self love yourself.

You cannot give love if you don't love/respect yourself. You can only go through the motions, which is often a case of self-gratification, after which the other person is tossed aside.

In The Great Commandment of Jesus, "You must love the Lord Your God with all your heart and soul, and love your neighbor as you love yourself", it is implied there are three loves here-"as yourself". You can't give love if you don't love yourself. You can't go to the well if the well is dry.

Rape and love are mutually exclusive terms.

Here endeth the lesson.
