There are bike tours available that will suit cyclists of every level of ability. Regardless if one is a beginner or a hardcore extreme cyclist.
The truly exceptional vacation destinations for cyclists will focus on personal, one-on-one contact and will offer a bike setting that is structured with the premise of being environmentally-aware.
Such is the case with 'Dreamride' of Moab, Utah.
What makes Dreamride special is owner Lee Bridges. Not only has he been a film director and stunt ride coordinator, but he has also published books on the Moab's delicate Eco-system and how mountain biking can be compatible without upsetting the balance.
Lee also has 50 years of off-road biking experience, and his knowledge about the sport has gone into constructing one of the finest biking destinations in the world.
Should you plan your bike holiday there, your first day will be spent learning about the environment and is also a time for the tour operators to assess your biking skills and design a package of daily rides to your ability.
By upgrading your vacation package, you will be given access to Dreamride's stable of some of the finest mountain bikes in the world. Bikes constructed with full suspensions that are ideal for the Moab terrain.
Another great choice for a biking holiday is Prince Edward Island in Canada.
Without a doubt, this is a holiday for those looking for a more relaxing biking experience.
Every day begins with an exceptional nourishing breakfast at one of the many bed and breakfasts dotting the island, and ends with dinner at a traditional Maritime eatery.
The rugged coastline of Prince Edward Island offers a scenic back-drop to the miles traveled on winding, peaceful roads that offer a tranquil and relaxing holiday.
I have one major regret when it comes to biking holidays. I had the opportunity to spend 4 weeks cycling through Vietnam, but unfortunately was unable to get that much time for a vacation.
I did however get a first-hand report of the trip and the country.
Vietnam may be well known for it's history of wars, but the people are friendly and hospitable. The guides and other support personnel are second to none and will answer all questions you have about the countryside you travel through during the course of your bike tour.
A cycling trip through Vietnam also includes sampling much of the traditional food and staying on occasion in quaint villages as the bike route winds it's way toward Ho Chi Min City.
For a break from cycling and a chance to rest those tired muscles, several days at the beach are strategically spotted though-out the 4 week journey.
There are mountain biking vacations available all over the world. The hardest part might be finding the one that is perfect for you.
