Lowered Gas Prices: End the War and Turmoil In The Middle East
Exactly six years into George Bush's term, the biggest spike in gas prices occurred on his watch. America took a hit with Hurricane Katrina and while we struggled with rescue efforts, which is ironic in a post 9/11, major oil/gas executives hunkered down with a devious plan. So much for trying to make sense out of soaring gas prices while Americans are turning their heads in disgust at how to assess blame for this mess.
It pits 'driving necessities' against the 'pleasure of driving.' Big business advocate, thanks alot Mr. President. If you ever want to get serious about lowering gas prices, the war and turmoil in the Middle East must end. Fears and worries in the Middle East are "subtle differences" that speaks volumes about the prices at the pump.
Meanwhile, the rage of fattening the pockets of oil giants can only do so much to cushion the blow on our hard earned dollars. Subsequently, it comes down to one thing: we're forced to Drive Smart. I'm not happy about it but to get on with life, here's some cool ideas to cut back on gas consumption.
With everything being constant that you should keep up with basic maintenances, let's drive smart.
1.) Change your habits of driving bumper-to-bumper on highways. Give yourself a car's length and let your car drive itself. Slowing down and sudden acceleration should be minimized. Get a feel for the flow, and pace your speed a notch slower and let it ride; tipping the accelerator sporadically.
To master this better, push your seat back to where, optimally, only the top half of your foot is resting on the bottom half of the gas pedal. Just enough "pressing" on the accelerator is best.
2.) If you're not in a rush, why rush? Stay in the middle lanes or right lanes and use the driving principals explained above. The left lane is the fast lane and the quickest way to the pump. Drive it to your own peril.
3.) Support efforts to relax war fears or end it altogether. Strong confidence and leadership during war can calm nerves and worries without it resulting in a jump in oil prices. From the White House to the Congress; put the "right" candidate in office. As citizens, your voice, your vote is a powerful entity to stop anything.
When driving around stop lights and intersections, try this cool trick...
When you see cars lined up at the red light, start slowing down well before you become part of the line. The idea is to keep the car moving until the light turns green. If you have to stop, make sure you let the car push off first when the light turns green. From there, build up speed without pressing deep on the accelerator.
These ideas may take time if you're used to driving a certain way. However, with the gas prices being as they are, it help to keep that in mind along with ideas of your own. The more, the better to fight back against high gas prices. Happy driving.
