Sleeping in the corner
lying on my canvas cot.
Watching all the snow fall,
thank god for what I've got.
A roof to give me shelter,
patchwork quilt to keep me warm,
a gentle loving family,
friends who don't conform.
A legacy inside me,
integrity to keep,
a spirit who's beside me
if I'm awake or sound asleep.
A fresh, strong wind behind me
that fills my sail toward home;
a hurricane lamp to guide me
when I'm in the world alone.
My fractured, reticent heart
still has some love to give.
I pray for all those with me
creating memories while we live.
The wind blows through my window
and takes this dream away.
Yet like the light that guides me,
my faith tells me to stay.
