Album reviews: Ghetto Story, by Cham

Let's just say that Baby Cham has grown up. He's the guy for you if you're into a reggae music with a hip-hop beat. This is a great dance hall album with a great sound to dance to. If you're into lyrics, this is not the album for you. It's not that the lyrics aren't great, they are. You just have to be great at deciphering them. It's very hard to understand him; however, the hot beats seem to overshadow that. The sound is just plain addicting. He even teams up with such greats as Alicia Keys and Akon. It was rumored that the title song, "Ghetto Story" was banned in Jamaica. I'm not sure if this is true or not. If you're looking for an album that will reach you through its easy to understand lyrical message, this is not for you. However, if you want a strong dance CD that will get you off your feet. This CD is perfect for you. The songs on this album include:

"Ghetto Story"

"Tic Toc"

"Rude Boy Pledge"

"Bring It On (Remix)"

"Don't Test Me"

"Wah Dem A Seh Now"

"Fat Punnany Girl (Hottie Hottie Girl)"

"Bad Boys"

"Boom Boom"

"Talk To Me"

"Vitamin S"

"Love It Like That"

"Girl"

"Cham"

"Ghetto Story Chapter 2"

"Ghetto Story Chapter 3"

"Bad Mind" (Bonus Track)

His work is compared with Sean Paul due to its reggae sound. The main difference is that Cham's beats are more hip-hop and Sean Paul's are more pop. If you like a hip-hop dance grove with a reggae sound, go out and buy this album.

It seems most hip-hop musicians claim they have a "ghetto story", but Cham can justify his lyrics with a sad youth in earnest.
