Poetry: Saying goodbye

by Lisa Petrarca

Created on: July 01, 2007

In the shadows of despair, I walk through the world without a care
The memories of you still linger everyday,
I cannot understand why you were taken away;
Agony and sorrow fill my heart,
As I ponder all the things that were left unsaid
Before your abrupt depart;
I carry the burden throughout my life,
As I try to go on and hide my grief and strife;

No one knows the depth of despair,
Until their loved one is no longer there;
The heart will try to slowly repair,
But the hole inside remains an empty space,
In which nothing can replace;
Time it's true makes the days a little brighter
And the load I carry seem a bit lighter;

I no longer cry at the sound of your name,
or feel like I'm sometimes going insane
The love and the memories are all I have to help me sustain,
and I know that's all of you that remains.
I love and miss you, my little brother,
and hope that one day we will again see one another.
