Religion is the effort by man to make his/her lot in life better. It started out by having good luck in the hunt, curing a sick child, and to ward off natural calamities.
All of this was way back there, and the "religious leader" was the head honcho who ruled by nothing but muscle power. He, and it was NEVER a woman, found that only he was "blessed" by the gods with the "right" to speak to the gods and woe be unto he who tried to usurp his position.
Religion was and is a "power trip" by men who found that by making the CLAIM that they, and only they, had the right to speak to the Gods. This attitude is still around today in a few places.
Just who gave that right to them? They gave it to themselves! And you and I believed them.
I firmly believe in some sort of a Supreme Power, but to hold that any sort of faith is the one and only true path is mistaken.
No one should look for God in any sort of a church, temple or synagogue, that entity isn't there, all you find there is a power trip by the founders of that organization set in motion to gain prestige, collect money, and not have to do any real work!
"That which is created always bears the mark of the one who created it."
Music always shows who wrote it by it's style, art clearly shows who executed it by it's style, and we recognize this. If you want to "find God" look within yourself.
Buddha perhaps phrased it best when he said: (not exact) "Do not believe that which is said just because it is said, do not believe that which is written just because it is written, do not believe your masters/teachers just because they are your masters/teachers, nor the words of those who are said to be wise men, BUT when what you find agrees with your own reason and consciousness then you are to believe."
In other words, THINK FOR YOURSELF! You and I do NOT need some preacher/priest/rabbi standing up there telling us what we are to think, and willing to tell us how to live our lives, we, as adults know how we should live. If it agrees with what they tell us, fine, but if what they tell us is a hardship in our lives, then are we to struggle with that advice while they go on causing hardship in someone elses life.
Some of you pick up a man-written man-made book authored by men whom we do not know, despite the supposed author's name at the top of the chapters, and we do not know when it was written, or who has re-written it to meet political motives, or how many times it has been re-written, and we let our minds turn into mush and swallow hook, line and sinker what is there.
Think for yourself.
