Now days, it is becoming easier, and more convenient to complete, or further your education on-line. This leaves many would-be students (including stay at home moms) questioning, Is this for real?'
There are many websites peppering the internet with promises of quick degrees, and instant gratification.'
Before you click on a quickie link to get a easy diploma, hold onto your money. Take a moment to read over the school's accreditations, legalities, and just what exactly the program is offering.
Is it recognized by anyone? Is it a real degree? Who recognizes it? Is it legal?
Keep in mind that if everyone could get a degree in a matter of minutes (with no studying), many schools would be out of business, especially with rising tuition costs.
Consider also that you don't become an Aerospace Engineer in ten minutes by paying $500, you do so by study and hard work.
This isn't to say though, that there aren't legitimate online schools offering affordable alternatives to a more traditional education. You just have to take the time to do a little research.
Many people are also confused by "life experience degrees."
Life experience degrees are degrees given based on knowledge you already have.
Students should check with area colleges to see if they accept or issue life experience degrees,' often times, there is certain paper work to be filled out and filed at that school to pursue this route.
There are also a number of affordable, and sometimes free programs and courses offering CEUs. Please do not mistake CEUs for college credits, they are Continuing Education Units. While they are not credits, they are helpful programs that further your personal education, and fatten up your resume (which is great if youve been out of the work place for awhile)!
If there is something you want to do, the world of technology is opening up doors that before were non-existent, so take advantage of it. Do your research, and make your education dollars go further, by being smarter.
