I can definitely write on this one since me and my husband were a victim to this.We bought a house back in 2001 and it had a family room in it the size of 19x21 feet with a cathedral ceiling. This room had been leaking at one time and the ceiling was sagging. They told us the roof had been repaired and their were no more leaks. We thought we could just take it out and have a new ceiling put back in,boy were we wrong. We bought the house and had a drywall specialist come in.They took out the drywall to install a new ceiling and bingo underneath lied the largest room of mold you ever saw.We had to have some one come in and bleach and clean all the mold from the ceiling before we could even think of a new ceiling. This was in the dead heat of the summer with very little ventilation in the room as all the windows were not open-able but only for looks, this house was built like a chalet. It ended up costing us six thousand dollars to have it cleaned and replaced. Then when winter came the first big snow and the whole ceiling turned into a spring shower when the snow began to melt on the roof so here we were again facing the same situation. The ceiling had to be replaced again. So I will tell you I would definitely not buy a house with mold unless you plan on doing some serious repairs and have lots of money.
