I'm sure we all still have the pet food recall's fresh in our minds. Many of us watched our precious pets come close to death's door, some of us actually barried our precious pets. Through out all the recall's I heard of so many cats and dogs that had died, or were fighting for their lives. My own cats were very sick, one nearly died. I heard people talking about how the food companies promised to reimburse customers for what they bought, and pay vet bills, and so on, and so forth. We were told when we contacted Iames that we were to throw out the cans of food and that we would be getting our money back for the case we bought, along with coupons for dry food. We were also told that an investigating attorney would be calling us, and that we would receive vouchers for our cats to be treated at a vet.
After more than three months, I now have to question, has anyone recieved compensation for the food they bought? Has any investigating attorney's contacted anyone? Has anything at all been done, or has the whole thing been forgotten and swept under the rug? I mean after all, these were just "pets". Our local paper stated that unless your pet died from the contaminated food, the company was doing very little because these pets were only family pets and not humans! I personaly was appauled by that statement. We for one have NOT recieved ANYTHING, no refund, no coupons, and no call from any attorney. We also did NOT throw away the contaminated food! We had a fear that we would be "swept under a rug", so we held onto the only evidence we had.
If you were you affected by this recall, and your pet became ill, or died, and you feel as though you were swept under a rug, and never recieved any compensation or return call. Then the links below may be of help to you and your family. One link below is to write to the FDA Commissioner Andrew von Eschenbach. Other links are helpful links in getting what we all were promised. One is also for a class action suit against the food manufature. I don't like law suits, especially class actions suits, but in this case, our family feels that the manufacture needs to know that we all are NOT going to stand for being swept under a rug and our pets forgotten about. It's time for us pet owners to take a stand and fight for our pets rights.
