Sticky drawers can be very uncomfortable!

Oh, my mistake...we're talking about the other kind of drawers here. Sorry.

OK, fixing sticky drawers is usually not rocket science, although there can be a number of reasons for drawers to become sticky; consequently, there may be a number of solutions needed to ensure success.

That said, let's analyze some of the variables, and review some possible solutions:

Drawer-slide design-there are many different styles of drawer-slides, and in some cases, slides are not used at all.

1.Is drawer simply a wooden box which is supposed to slide inside another wooden box?

Solution: Ensure wood has not become swollen; ensure "slide" surfaces are smooth; lubricate with wax or bar soap.

2.Is drawer slide mechanical "track" type attachments to drawer and drawer receptacle?

Solution: Ensure mechanical attachments ("tracks/slides") are securely attached to drawer itself and to the drawer receptacle; ensure any "moving parts" actually do move; lubricate with WD-40 or Lithium white grease (minimal amounts required).

3.Is drawer slide the center top slide and lower roller wheel type slides?

Solution: Ensure center mounted track inside drawer receptacle is securely anchored; ensure the plastic 'slider' attachment on the drawer itself is securely anchored and intact; lubricate with Lithium white grease (small amount required); ensure lower rollers are securely anchored to the lower portion of the drawer receptacle area.

While there are other types of slides available, I believe these three are the most common. These solutions should remedy sticky drawers of these types.

Unless, of course, the soup ladle is jammed again!
