To me, purchasing items on e-bay is always a gamble. You're taking a chance buying something sight unseen. Although, you should take into account that "you get what you pay for." And so my guitar purchase-it was a definite dud. I knew I would be getting a cheap instrument because the bid was only $.01 (that's right, one cent!), but the shipping cost was about $25. I just wanted a guitar that sounded half-way decent for me to play at my job as a preschool teacher. Oh, and I also liked the fact that the guitar was....purple.

When I first unpacked the guitar after its arrival I immediately smelled a strong paint odor. Obviously, it had just recently been given its purpleness! So recently, I think, that it had not been given ample time to dry because there was a small area where the paint had smeared. Another lovely indication of its low quality was that one of the fret bars was missing. Needless to say, the sound quality was poor, too.

I e-mailed the company regarding my dissatisfaction, mentioning the paint and the missing fret. They responded with regrets and said I could send the guitar back, but first they wanted me to send them pictures of the problems. Not being too technologically savvy, I have very little experience with digital cameras and sending pictures via e-mail. Also, knowing that I'd probably have to spend another $25 to send the thing back gave me little incentive to follow through on the return.

The guitar now sits in my basement waiting for my church's fund raising yard sale. At least my mispurchase will possibly benefit someone!
