Contrary to what some people may think meatloaf can be prepared low fat, and savory, starting with the lowest fat of meat, such as ground sirloin or ground round.

A key factor in preparing a low fat meatloaf is reducing most of the fat from your ground beef.

If you have only regular ground beef to use, one of the best ways to achieve a low fat meatloaf is using a loaf pan with a built in drainer that allows grease to drip through slits in the pan.

Here is the list of your low fat meatloaf ingredients.

1-1/2-2lbs. ground sirloin or ground round
1/3 cup of quick cooking oatmeal
1/4 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons A-1 steak sauce
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 whole egg and 1 egg white
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/4 cup finely diced onion

Preheat your oven to 375 F degrees.

First, whisk your eggs slightly in a medium size bowl. Now, add your ketchup and A-1, then stir the ingredients together with your eggs.

Next, add your dry ingredients and onion, followed by your ground sirloin or ground round.

Finally, mix all the ingredients together forming a loaf with your hands. Remember to wash your hands thoroughly after handling the ground meat.

Transfer your formed meat loaf to preferably a glass or metal loaf pan.

Add additional ketchup across the top of the meatloaf in about a 1 inch strip.

Bake in your preheated oven for about 1 hour and 15 minutes. When the meatloaf is done, you should have a tasty, low fat meatloaf that you can enjoy eating without worrying about added calories.
