It is not the business of the Federal Government to pour money into bigger and more expensive campaigns. Electing government officials should always be in the hands of the people. If the government gives money to candidates than the government could decide who gets elected with money alone.
When the government and not the people begins deciding who is in charge then this is no longer a republic and it's no longer the United States as imagined by the founding fathers. In fact every time our politicians introduce new legislation and it passes we seem to drift further and further from the free country this was meant to be.
If the people want to attract less corruption to politics then they vote for less money getting poured into government. Most of these candidates net money from big business and have the agenda of business folded neatly in their pocket.
They should enact stronger term limits on all three branches of government. They should cut the pay of these politicians in half. Don't worry they would still be among the wealthiest in our society. They should take the health care benefits they give to these congressman, representatives and senators and give it the soldiers who are fighting to keep us all alive.
Should the government be funding campaigns. HELL NO!
