It seems that a lot of the advice given is far too casual, and breeds far too casual an approach, which is wrong, OH SO WRONG in a time like this, of widening gaps between e-commerce-rich and real-world-poor, when old folk are losing their grip on their monies and only through extreme rightwing backlashes are they protecting ANYTHING from us, the wily youth.

Yes me dears, if you want to survive out here, and you realise that free promotion is a staple diet for your business to even BEGIN to compete with those already out here, then you want to be very very thorough about it, nothing casual, everything counts and you take your coffee breaks sitting down in front of the computer, and your smoking breaks, and your lunch, and if you're young and healthy enough your sleeping periods too - i.e. don't sleep, just work.

What you have to do is find the most labour-intensive methods for farming traffic, that means you have to collect up groups of domains/space, all free space naturally, and use it to make pages which serve people by feeding them lots of good collections of links. You can use ALL these pages to promote your own website and it's all free and perfectly legit in EVERY way, and moreover if you are wise you'll throw in some adrevenue for yourself too and get a bit of extra cash out of the deal.

So what labour intensive methods could you use, once you have set up a dozen pages and networked objects feeding a pathway and links between each other and the networked universe (starting with google and yahoo and msn, who will pick it up fast if you know your stuff)?

Reciprocal link exchanges executed thoroughly with 1000s of sites - is a very good way to get all manner of things and people to become aware of your site and help it get natural "organic" traffic.

Submissions to sites or network pages where you put favourites up or forum posts or blogs - all this "wild growth" is good for throwing in links, but above all the key method lies in the initial thing I told you to do - get your 10 to 40 sites which are all interlinked and make damn sure that THOSE sites have got links point at your website and then farm more and more links going deeper into your website - make a 'structure' of loops which lead, ultimately, between a vast array of "lead them in" pages leading them in to a small but respectable amount of "buy from here" pages.

Do not stop working, go round and round the clock and above all be sure to get all your finances covered early so that the bulk of you work can be relaxed and driven by the abundant desire for self-betterment in your chosen profession. That means be ruthless. Assess what REALLY counts, what is really important to do first and do THAT. Money is the object of the game. When you have it, go out and have a nice time and find a new game with a nicer object, but out here, e-commercing around the cyberocean... what counts is the bucks. Eg why I am at helium and not poncing around on forums or blogs or places with less 'strategically managed' earning solutions is because this site makes good bucks, for themselves and for others.

Okay and finally if you want to understand HOW to find all those 1000s of places to get reciprocal links - use google PROPERLY - scour and scour sets of results for pages with reciprocal link exchanges, find recurrent keywords eg on the forms and look for those specifically, find 10s of 1000s and narrow them down with filters and so try and milk Google's results for the very maximum amount of "good leads" you can find. City sales professionals making over 150k a year taught me that about google, sadly, not the goodly activists out HERE.
