I live in the desert, The people around me and myself are very interested in surviving heat. Here are a few tips:

Stay Hydrated
OK, everyone says that, there's a reason they do.

Stay Out of the Sun
Sounds silly, but many people just don't do it. Here in the desert it can be fatal.

Dress in light colored light weight loose fitting clothes.
Dark colors get hotter. You can test that one with your hand on any sunny day. Light loose fitting clothing lets your own bodies natural air conditioning work.

Maybe Misters Mr.
If you are in a "dry heat " situation misters actually cool the air up to 30 degrees, even in high humidity it seems to help some, although not much. "Misty Mate" is one of several that have low priced mister systems plus they have a web site

Just Get Wet
Hose yourself down, get in a pool, pour water over yourself

Get Used to It
Slow deliberate exposure helps the body adapt to the situation. It's fairly common to see "workers" out in 100+ days doing manual labor. They got used to it.

Be Cool
Think about slower instead of faster, be lazy, stay emotionally cool. This actually works.
