site of the traveling preacher's Sunday services.
And after grabbing a quick sandwich and before returning our bikes to the rental we took a ride down Rabbit Road along a fresh water canal hoping to spot a "rare" Island Bobcat. Well, maybe next year... Grey Marsh rabbits and Wading Herons are plentiful. And, by all means, watch for alligators.
Other activities on the islands include dolphin cruises, canoeing & kayaking, boat rentals, aquarium, history and arts, canoe adventures & wilderness tours, Captive cruises, and naturalists deck talks at Tarpon Bay. Island maps and guides are found plentifully on the islands. There are various places to stay on the islands but for a variety of motels suits for lesser costs, consider staying on the mainland in the Ft. Meyers area. However, some island motel-condos offer bicycles with rooms. (Since we had grandpa with us, we rented a condo on the island.)
Bike rentals are easily spotted on the island. Or you can call ahead: Finnimore's Cycle Shop, 888-834-3772 or Billy's Rentals, 800-575-8717, to reserve the type bike you want. You can pick the bikes up or either shop will deliver them to you. Remember, under Florida Law people less than age 16 must wear helmets when bicycling.
There is a $3.00 fee to cross Sanibel Causeway leading to the islands.

Please, have as much fun on your trip as we did on ours.
