Gift ideas for nurses

by Lee Gee

When considering a gift for a nurse you should decide what is appropriate. Are you giving a gift to a nurse who is an acquaintance, to show gratitude and your appreciation of their help, care and attention, or is it a gift for a nurse in your family, or as a friend? Either way there is some great choices to brighten their day.

As in most things these days consider your own specific situation you are in and the circumstance the gift is being given in. A simple, in expensive showing of gratitude and gift of thanks would be a pretty bouquet of flowers accompanied by a cute, well written thank you card. To give a personal treat you could have the nurse looked after and pampered, by giving a gift certificate for a health and relaxation spa. This would be quite appropriate and greatly received because they themselves are normally the ones running around helping others.

An obviously gift to give and a nursing related gift would be a nurses watch. An important piece of nursing equipment, there's a vast range of watches to choose from. The classic nurses fob watch covers a large price range and some designer labels even produce nurse fob watches, which can be worn with pride of place, on the lapel. Watches can of course be engraved for that special message and personal touch.. Other than a fob style watch there's an endless range of wrist watches suitable for a nurse. It needs to be a simple, easily cleaned watch with clear easy to read numbers and don't forget that it must have a second hand to be useful in nursing.

Other work related gift ideas can be dependent on what type of nursing they are in. If involved with children's nursing there's a huge range of smocks, trousers and scrubs in cartoon print featuring Disney characters amongst others. Another idea is nurses 'Croc' shoes. They have now become a fashion accessory, with celebrities having been snapped wearing them. My sister and niece own a brightly colored pair each and aren't in medicine at all. For other ideas there's now companies like Nurse Mates' having a great range of everything a nurse could need.

It's a wonderful gesture to give a gift to a nurse that has cared for yourself or a family member but remember to consider all of the circumstances and remember that some gifts are more appropriate that others and also some can be more personal than other gifts. It will be greatly appreciated but bear in mind that the nurse is just doing their job and may be a little embarrassed accepting a gift.
