Reflections: Appreciating the little things in life,
We all need to appreciate the little things in life, a lot of
times we take it all for granted. We get so caught up, so wrapped
up in the big things we don't appreciate the little things. We don't
see what really matter's the most. We all get caught up in trying to
live up to the Jonses, yet do we really appreciate it's true value? We
want the yard to look nice, but does it make us feel nice? We want to
have other's notice, but do we really notice? There are so many things
that we don't see, we don't appreciate like a baby crying, we think it
grates on our nerves, but we should be grateful for it. Were we should
not sweat the small stuff but appreciate it.
If we all took our own advice we all would probably be millionares by
now. We would appreciate the little things that come along, that should
bring us joy, that should gives us some hope, some courage, some strength.
Yet, we feel like we have to please everyone, we are the most hardest on
ourselves, because we don't know how to please ourselves. When you look
inside at your own heart, you feel empty, you don't feel nothing, not one
emotion, you wonder where your feelings went. You know they went out the
window, you do't want your heart so closed that you can't feel love again,
that you can't find love, you want to be open in all areas.
Appreciating the little things in life is so simple, but yet we make
it so complex. We could stop and smell the roses, smell the flowers along
thew away but yet we are too busy, too hurried, our minds racing all over
the place. If we can give it to God, let go, let our minds be at peace,
at serenity then we can appreciate the little things. We can look at them
with new open sober eyes. We can see them with a new light, a new insight,
and know that they are gifts from God. For God gives us these little gifts,
whether they be friendship, whether they be good unexpected treats, blessings,
whatever you call them, we've got to learn to appreciate them and not take
them for granted, because we may never have a chance to hold them in the palm
of our hand or heart.
